Ticketmaster UK suffered a recent data breach where over 40,000 international account holders (though not US customers) were affected. These accounts had their name, address, email address, telephone number, payment details and Ticketmaster login details compromised. Keep reading so you know how to how to stay safe after this breach.
Most of the affected transactions occurred between December 2017 and April 2018. Unfortunately compromised credit card data is already being abused.
Props to Ticketmaster for getting in front of this error! They will be contacting affected account holders by email, and are offering a 12 month identity monitoring service to protect from identity theft. Click here for details of their planned correspondence.
How can you protect your accounts?
Contact your bank if you think you purchased tickets in the time frame above. Make sure there are no strange charges to your account. If you’re on Ticketmaster’s list of affected customers, replace your card.
Make sure the people contacting you as “Ticketmaster” are indeed Ticketmaster. Red flags should go up if emails have strange grammar, typos, or ask for personal information. If you’re concerned, verify it’s them by contacting the following email: email@example.com
